'Baobab'
The largest living thing on the African continent. The photographs in this book have been taken all over Southern and Central Africa, from the arid salt pans of Botswana's Makgadigadi to Namibia's Kaokaveld and the Zambezi valley. It features some of the most remarkable examples of the tree in the extremes of its range, from deserts to waterfalls. The text is a multi-faceted overview that looks at the history, mythology, medicinal properties, practical usage, ritual and cultural associations of a tree that some believe to be the home of spirits.

The author.
Ralph Stutchbury is a filmmaker and photographer based in Harare. He has travelled all over Southern and Central Africa photographing wildlife and exploring wild places. His love of nature comes from being brought up in the bush where his father was a game warden before setting up and operating several well-known safari camps in Zimbabwe.
